Home remedy: soaking ingrown toenail twice a day in warm water for 15 mins...How does that help?

As we speak, I am trying a home remedy for ingrown toenails (The remedy being to soak the toenail[s] in warm water for 15 minutes twice a day). How is this doing anything? Plus, is there anything else I can do that is less time consuming?Home remedy: soaking ingrown toenail twice a day in warm water for 15 mins...How does that help?
I was told that if you soak the toe nail in warm water and then put cream on it like thick lotion and soak it again the toe nail will soften so you can get it out of your skin. Then you can cut it back.

You have to cut the nail straight across not round. If it is already cut you are supposed to put cotton under the nail so that it will not grow back into your skin.

I think the best way to handle these ingrown toenails is to get a pedicure regularly. The technician can see and reach the area better. Also they put Ttree oil on your nails to prevent fungus.

Good luck
